We’ve had our collective forresty eyes on this barren strip of the Upfield Line for quite some time. It needs plants - particularly shade plants for people walking to Merlynston station in summer! We’ve mulched it (quite some time ago) so it’s like a cake that just needs icing. We have plants! Come and help plant them!
Back to Brunswick Station this weekend. We’ll be working on the east-side
Please bring gloves, spades, pruning gear...mulch carrying gear, water containers, mattocks, rubbish collecting gear!
Come and join us in Benalla to be part of one the most well organised and long lasting planting projects happening in Victoria.
We'll be driving out either late Friday or very early on the Saturday and camping at the Scouts Hall in Benalla.
More information and to let the project know you are coming visit:
We are returning to our Oak Lawn outside Woolies to add a few more deciduous beauties to this soon to be glorious park.
This weekend we are going to do lots of digging and maintenance work on the site, digging large holes for the new trees and pulling back weeds from existing trees to give them a bit more of a chance.
If people have wheelbarrows to collect a few loads of mulch from Brunswick Station and mattocks that would be great.
We are also going to plant a few creepers up the fence and if we have time cross the tracks for a little planting on the other side, we’ll see how we go! See you then!

Yes it’s a Saturday!
We’re so close to having planted out this whole section of the Upfield shared path from Spry Street to Shorts Road! All that’s left it a few bereft patches, that need some mulching and more plants.
Please come and help and bring your weeding implements, mulch spreaders and perhaps some morning tea!
Meeting: Moreland Station East Side
The news has trickled down that the skyrail construction removing the Moreland Rd, Reynard, Munro and Bell St level crossings will result in the loss of many significant trees in the area.
We don’t know for sure, as there are no public statements coming from LXRA.
These trees are an important part of our community and support bird, animal and insect life. They are beautiful, shade providing trees that we can’t afford to lose as the climate changes. Come to a meeting at 10am to talk about what we can do to save them.
This stretch of the Upfield shared path between Renown Street and Baker’s Road is looking pretty good! It’s come such a long, long way since Vince and family began planting here a few years back. Now all it needs it a bit of love and affection now and then.
We’ll be weeding, watering (if it still has not rained) and maybe putting in a few more small ground covers and shrubs. The Coburg North crew hope to see you there!
Back again to finish off our mulching. Bring mulch carrying equipment and any cardboard boxes you might have.
This site needs a bit of weeding, watering, care and attention.
If there is mulch to spare at Jo’s site, we might do a bit of mulching do. Please come with gloves and wheelbarrows.
NOTE: We’re now starting earlier than planned (9am, rather than 9.30). Please come and help to spread mulch, do some weeding and hopefully put in some plants along Ararat Avenue, and along the shared path - opposite 15 Ararat Avenue.
Bring weed-digging implements, mulch forks (and a wheelbarrow if you’re close by.)
Mulching at Oak Lawn in Brunswick.
This site has been a bit mangled when the Upfield Bike Path went in, but this weekend we are going to plan a few more tree sites and spread the mulch that is there.
Bring gloves, buckets for carrying mulch and water if you have any to put on the trees.
If we finish early, we will head up to Brunswick Station and do a bit of a weed and rubbish collect on the east-side.
PLease note that original start time of 10am now brought forward to 8.30/9am due to the forceast heat!
Mulching , weeding, maintenance….soccer and tea.
Please come along with mattocks and gloves....
